In a surprising move that is sure to raise more than a few eyebrows, President Donald J. Trump today endorsed Democrat Stacey Abrams in her bid to become Georgia’s next governor. Ms. Abrams would be the first black female governor of the Peach state.
As is his recent habit since being banned from Twitter, President Trump made the endorsement via a post on his Save America PAC:
Abrams campaign spokeswoman Annie Sprinkle was delighted to hear the news:
“While this is most certainly a surprise, we are delighted that the former president recognizes that Stacey Abrams has spent her entire political career fighting for all Georgians. We very much look forward to winning this election and ensuring competent governance for all people of Georgia.”
Georgia GOP spokesperson Cletus Derpfinger was more resigned:
“Well shit. That’s gonna over like a turd in a punch bowl with Republicans here in the state. I mean sure, we all know Trump hates Kemp, but really? We’ve been trying to find a primary challenger against Kemp, but so far only Devin Nunes’ Cow has expressed any interest. Unless we can find a viable challenger we’re all well and truly fucked.”
