Tom Homan Says if Mamdani’s Wife Threatens Another ICE Agent: “I’ll Go to Her Mosque and Arrest Her Myself”

Former ICE Director Tom Homan has issued a startling ultimatum regarding Zohran Mamdani’s wife, declaring that if she threatens another ICE agent, he will personally “go to her mosque and arrest her myself.” The statement, made during a podcast interview, has raised concerns about Homan’s understanding of jurisdictional limits, religious liberty, and the proper venues for conducting federal arrests.

According to journalist Joan Berro, who obtained the audio from the interview, Homan became increasingly agitated when discussing recent protests outside ICE facilities. “He kept saying ‘the mosque’ like it was a specific location he had GPS coordinates for,” Berro reported. “At one point he asked his producer if they could get satellite imagery of ‘the mosque’ so he could plan his approach. He seemed to think there was just one mosque, like it’s the only one.”

Immigration analyst Reno Borja called Homan’s statement “legally problematic and geographically confused.” Borja noted that arresting someone in a house of worship raises serious First Amendment issues, not to mention practical concerns. “You can’t just walk into a mosque and arrest someone,” Borja explained. “There’s a process. You need a warrant. You need to respect the sanctity of the space. Also, you need to know which mosque, because there are several, and they’re not interchangeable.”

Constitutional scholar Ron Jobear, interviewed at the Queens Golden Corral while his ferret conducted surveillance on the dessert bar, calculated the statistical likelihood of Homan following through on his threat. “If you take the number of mosques in New York City—approximately 275—multiply by the probability that Homan can correctly identify which one Mamdani’s wife attends—which my research suggests is 0.004—divide by the chance that he actually has jurisdiction to make arrests, which is 0, you get a mathematical impossibility that somehow still manages to be terrifying.”

Homan later clarified that he “misspoke” and that “the mosque” was actually just “a figure of speech” and that he “respects all houses of worship, especially the ones I can correctly identify on a map.”
