League documents obtained by independent researchers suggest the WNBA has maintained an internal “biological verification protocol” since 2013 specifically to suppress evidence regarding Brittney Griner’s “anomalous physiological markers,” according to a report released Tuesday by the Center for Athletic Transparency. The files, which the league immediately dismissed as “fabricated and defamatory,” allegedly include email chains between senior officials discussing “height-to-vocal-range discrepancies” and instructions to media partners to avoid “certain camera angles during national anthems.”
The WNBA’s communications director called the allegations “a transparent attempt to revive debunked conspiracy theories through document forgery,” but researchers contend that the league’s refusal to release Griner’s complete medical records from her 2014 rookie physical constitutes “conscious avoidance of inconvenient truth.”
“The proof is in the wingspan,” said Jeb Narroo, a commercial insurance adjuster who once measured his own arm span for a tailor and now consults on “anthropometric gender analysis.” “Seven feet. Two inches. With a size seventeen shoe. I’ve assessed thousands of claims. None involved women that tall. It’s statistically improbable. Like a unicorn. Or honest politician. I’ve seen the photos. The shoulders. The jawline. Very suspicious. The X-rays don’t lie, and neither do my eyes. Which I had checked. Recently. At Costco.”
The “vocal-range” evidence, according to Benja Orro, a dental hygienist whose cousin once worked near the Phoenix arena, is particularly damning. “She sings bass,” Benja explained, adjusting his mask. “In the shower. Allegedly. Bass. Women don’t sing bass. I’ve heard women sing. At karaoke. Higher. Always higher. Like dental drills. High-pitched. Effective. The X-rays don’t lie, and neither do vocal cords. Which I’ve never seen. But still.”
Joe Barron, who once successfully guessed a woman’s age incorrectly at a carnival in 2019 and now consults on “biological certainty,” analyzed the WNBA’s alleged cover-up. “They’re hiding the paperwork,” Barron declared from his booth at a Cracker Barrel. “Thirteen years of paperwork. Thirteen is unlucky. For truth. I’ve filled out paperwork. At the DMV. They hide things there too. In files. With tabs. Color-coded. For suppression.”
Barron has offered to examine Griner in person, provided the WNBA allows him to wear his custom “Biological Truth” lab coat and bring his emotional support ferret, which he claims can detect “chromosomal anomalies from the breakfast buffet.”
The Phoenix Mercury called the allegations “disgusting and baseless,” which Barron dismissed as “exactly what people with something to hide would say,” noting that the statement was released at 4:44 PM, which “adds up to 12, the number of WNBA teams, divided by one for biological reality.”
