Oxford Removes ‘White’ From Dictionary To Avoid Backlash

In today’s world of political correctness and desperate acts made to avoid the appearance of racism, sane people would argue that things have gone too far.

The desire by companies to appease special interest groups has gone absolutely insane. Some of the measures taken lack sense — the loss of the beloved Aunt Jemima comes to mind. Unfortunately, it does not appear that this craziness will be ending anytime soon.

Publishers of the Oxford Standard Dictionary have announced plans to remove certain words from their version of the English lexicon. In addition to removing gender pronouns, such as “he” and “she,” the most ludicrous removal announced thus far has to be that of a color.

Beginning with the printing of their next edition, Oxford will be eliminating the word “white“ from their pages, a measure they say is necessary to eliminate the appearance of racism. Joe Barron is Oxford’s Official Censorship Representative and he had this to say:

“That word is obviously offensive to some, more and more each day. It’s utterance symbolizes oppression and domination. It is a word full of negative connotations.

This is a new world. We all must strive to make it better for every person in it. Such words that cause pain and anguish need to be removed from everyday language. We feel it is better to do this quickly than to have them just fade away. We must have people learn immediately the harm they do by saying these words aloud.

There are plenty of alternatives to this word that people can use to describe other objects. ‘Pale’ comes to mind. ‘Bland’ is another. ‘Boring’ could also be opted for.

It is for this reason that the five-letter word, ‘white,’ will be stricken. We at Oxford are doing our part to make the world a better place. We can only hope that our colleagues sat Webster’s and Roget follow suit.”

This is political correctness gone insane. There’s nothing racist about a color. Snow is white. Good guys wear white hats. Angels have white wings. White symbolizes innocence and goodness. To use pale or boring just won’t cut it.
