Investigative Journalist Nick Shirley says following the taxpayer-funded finances of New York City’s First Lady, Mara Juwani, led to some disturbing findings.
“Mrs. Mamdani isn’t trying to hide the fact that she spends tens of thousands every day on high-priced clothing, fine dining, and spa services,” said Shirley. “She also gives money slated for the city’s charities to pro-Palestine groups, which is probably against the law.”
Shirley says he’s getting no cooperation at all from the NYPD or state authorities.
“Nobody wants to rock the boat.”
The spending spree, which reportedly includes daily visits to exclusive boutiques and high-end wellness centers, has reportedly drawn the attention of several city watchdogs, though official channels have remained silent. According to Shirley, receipts obtained through public records requests show repeated charges for items such as custom-tailored coats, imported olive oil tasting menus, and what appear to be “executive-level” seaweed wraps.
Joe Barron, the city’s Deputy Comptroller for Questionable Expenditures and Part-Time Bagel Cart Operator, confirmed the lack of follow-through from authorities. “We’ve seen the paper trail,” Barron said while slicing an everything bagel with unnecessary precision. “It just keeps leading back to the same three addresses in the West Village and one very expensive mud bath facility in Tribeca. The system is working exactly as designed—which is to say, not at all.”
Doorman Carlos, who works the overnight shift at a luxury building near City Hall, claimed he has seen multiple deliveries arrive for the First Lady’s office at odd hours.
“They come in unmarked vans,” Carlos explained, leaning against the marble lobby desk. “Big boxes. The kind that look like they could hold coats or maybe small filing cabinets. Last week one of them had a label that said ‘Handle with Care – Fragile Dreams.’ I don’t even know what that means. My cousin’s girlfriend’s roommate used to work security at a department store, so I know when packages are trying to tell you something. These packages were definitely trying to tell us something.”
Food delivery driver Jamal, who frequently drops off meals at the same address, said the orders have grown increasingly elaborate.
“She orders for like twelve people every time, but it’s always just her and two assistants,” Jamal noted while checking his app. “Last Tuesday it was three orders of truffle risotto and a side of ‘solidarity salad.’ I asked what that was and they said it was just regular salad but with extra dressing. My uncle’s neighbor delivers for the same company and he says the receipts sometimes get rerouted through a charity account. Like, the city pays, but then it gets charged to something called ‘Global Awareness Initiative Number Seven.’ Sounds official until you realize Initiative Number Six was shut down for buying too many yoga mats.”
Spa receptionist Tanya, who works at one of the locations frequently visited by the First Lady, said the appointments are booked under a generic name but paid for through a city vendor account.
“They always request the ‘resistance package,'” Tanya whispered while folding towels. “It’s the one where they get the deep tissue massage and then a 45-minute session where they just sit in a room and talk about ‘the cause.’ I don’t know what the cause is, but it costs $850. My sister’s boyfriend’s cousin used to be a city accountant before he got fired for asking too many questions about expense reports. He says this is how they move the money without anyone noticing. Through essential oils and cucumber water.”
Joe Barron, who also serves as the unofficial Archivist of Dubious Charity Transfers, announced that a full audit would be released “sometime between now and the next mayoral election, whichever comes first.” As of press time, the NYPD had declined to comment, though a source identified only as “Frank, who parks the patrol cars,” reported seeing several officers quietly updating their résumés.
