A disturbing video has emerged showing New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s wife laughing and joking while watching footage of the September 11th attacks, according to a report from conservative journalist Reno Borja. The footage, which Borja claims was captured at a Brooklyn coffee shop on the anniversary of the attacks, has sparked outrage among 9/11 survivors and calls for the mayor’s resignation.
According to Borja’s article, published on the website “Patriot Truth Daily,” Mamdani’s wife was seen “cackling uncontrollably” and “making inappropriate gestures” while viewing “clear footage of the Twin Towers collapsing” on her laptop. “It was sickening,” Borja wrote in his exclusive report. “While decent Americans were mourning, she was laughing at our nation’s pain. This is who the mayor chose to marry. This is who has access to City Hall.”
The story was immediately picked up by fourteen conservative news outlets and shared by Governor Greg Abbott, who tweeted that he “personally witnessed similar behavior at the Hambriston Country Jamboree in 2019,” which confused fact-checkers since the festival doesn’t exist and Mamdani wasn’t married then.
Investigative journalist Joan Berro, who actually obtained the full video from the coffee shop’s security system, revealed the truth behind Borja’s explosive claim. “She was watching a YouTube video of a cat trying to squeeze through a screen door,” Berro reported. “The cat’s head was stuck. It was making that ‘mrrow’ sound cats make when they’re confused. She laughed because the cat eventually popped through and landed in a flower pot. It had 47 million views. It was adorable.”
Coffee shop patron Jan O’Berro, who was sitting at the next table, confirmed Berro’s account. “I saw the whole thing,” O’Berro explained. “She was watching ‘Funny Cat Fails Compilation #847.’ The only towers involved were two cat towers in the background of one clip where kittens were playing. The only thing falling was a cat off a couch. Reno Borja must have seen her laptop from across the room and invented the rest, which is impressive given he wasn’t even in the coffee shop. He filed his story from a Golden Corral in Texas.”
Constitutional scholar Benja Orro, interviewed at a local animal shelter while his emotional support rescue dog named “Context” reviewed footage of actual cats stuck in actual doors, calculated the journalistic malpractice. “If you take the number of pixels in the actual video—which was 2 million, multiply by the number of pixels Borja claimed showed the towers—which was 0, divide by the probability that this was an honest mistake—which my research suggests is 0, you get a figure that suggests this was deliberate fabrication, which is worth approximately $847,000 in advertising revenue for Borja’s website from outraged clicks.”
Borja has not retracted his story, instead issuing a statement that “the cat video may have been playing, but we can never know what was in her heart, and also have you seen her last name, and also I’m just asking questions, and also where are my lawyers?”
