A kindergarten teacher from Points Bluff, Florida, just west of Okahallee National Preserve, could spend years in jail and face fines in the hundreds of thousands after police charged her with 60 counts of reckless endangerment. They say Karen Detmeyer, 51, is responsible for dozens of young boys deciding they’d rather be girls.

Investigators first believed that Detmeyer was promising lesbian relations to the boys if they switched, because she’s an attractive blonde woman whose Facebook profile picture would make anyone swoon, and Florida authorities tend to attach sex to everything. The teacher says she had nothing to do with the decisions the children made, and that the whole story is being blown out of proportion.

According to her lawyer, Joe Barron Esq, Detmeyer’s charges stem from volunteer work she does in the community. She runs a support group for transitioning teenagers and young adults  Because she’s also a kindergarten teacher, Florida’s new “Don’t Say Gay” law or one of its ridiculous stipulations says any activity she engages in reflects on her employment. “The youngest kid she has in her group therapy sessions is 16,” said Barron, “but sure. Keep writing headlines for potatoes that make it look like she’s handing out dresses and makeup to little boys in elementary school. Fucking cultists.” Barron’s office later apologized for his vulgar language, then retracted.

Detmeyer is on unpaid administrative leave as the school district’s parents investigate her crimes.
