Newly-elected House Speaker Kevin McCarthy isn’t wasting any time instituting rule changes for the next Congress. While the official orders won’t go into effect until the Speaker is seated in January, Democrats are already going crazy over the changes.
First, Marjorie Taylor Greene will once again be allowed to make motions and join committees. That’s good news for the deep-cut album sides in the Trump camp singing banjo versions of Emerson, Lake, and Palmer tunes. Greene having a voice again will certainly keep the people who dragged their knuckles out to vote for her entertained.
The other change they can’t seem to fathom is the mandatory moment of prayer. McCarthy said members will no longer have the “Pelosi Option” to bow out of affirming their allegiance to God and their country.
McCarthy says that’s just the beginning, and that new changes will reflect the old ways of lawmaking. Some things he may reconsider is the 158-year-old “In God We Trust” sign Pelosi had shelved finding its way back home and closing the “mini-mosque” the Squad demanded on the back Capitol lawn.
Big changes are coming and the Democrats, who look like they’ll be in the minority by a Boebert or so, just can’t accept it. For journalisticators like us here at ALLOD, it’s material for months.
