The original cast of “The Golden Girls” had a certain chemistry that producers of the upcoming reboot say will be difficult to reproduce. They were different in almost every way. The role of Dorothy, for example, requires a special type of personality, one they believe they’ve found in Judge Jeannine Pirro.

“We need someone almost masculine, with an authoritative voice and a commanding presence to play the leader of these women,” said Casting Director Joe Barron, “Judge Prro has that and other qualities that make her the perfect Dorothy.

Judge Pirro hasn’t accepted or declined the offer yet and says she’ll need some time to do some soul-searching. “It’s nice and all, but I’d be working with Jane Fonda and Bette Midler, which might be a deal-breaker.”

Barron pointed out that the original Dorothy, Bea Arthur, was pretty much a jerk in real life and disliked the entire cast and crew of the show. “It’s another reason she’s perfect,” said the director, “she a nasty bitch and nobody likes her. It makes her way more believable as a character.”

The show is set to start filming as soon as they can fill all the roles. Kevin Sorbo, who was originally tapped to play a non-binary version of Sophia, has backed out citing religious differences with the script. That’s a big loss, but Barron believes the idea is still solid.

Who will want to watch this re-boot? I’d rather watch re-runs of the real thing. Fonda and Midler????? Come one man!

  2. I won’t watch ANYTHING with Fonda a Midler! Judge Pirro would be a great “Dorothy” tho!
