In yet another stunning case of Democratic financial mischief, reports have surfaced that Congresswoman Ilhan Omar’s family has been quietly collecting Social Security benefits intended for her grandmother—who, according to government records, was supposed to have died eight years ago.

The scheme allegedly began in 2016, when Omar’s grandmother, a Somali national who had been living in the U.S. under what some are calling “highly creative residency circumstances,” was reported as deceased in private records but somehow remained very much alive in the Social Security Administration’s payment system.

“This is fraud on a scale we haven’t seen since the Clinton Foundation,” said Congressman Joe Barron, who is calling for a full investigation. “While everyday Americans are struggling, Omar’s family has been treating grandma’s Social Security check like their personal ATM. What was this money even used for? Rent? Vacations? Bulk purchases of Nancy Pelosi’s ice cream collection?”

Senator Art Tubolls took the accusations even further, demanding that Omar be placed under immediate financial house arrest. “You have to hand it to the Democrats. They found a way to turn Social Security into Universal Basic Income—at least for themselves.” Tubolls has introduced a bill, tentatively titled the “Stop Letting Dead People Pay Your Rent Act,” which, if passed, would make cashing a deceased relative’s benefits punishable by at least six months of mandatory community service at a Republican campaign office.

Omar’s office responded to the allegations with a brief statement, dismissing them as a “misunderstanding” and insisting that “all funds were used appropriately and with the utmost respect for the law.” However, leaked transaction records indicate that throughout the years, the checks were routinely deposited into various family accounts, with one withdrawal suspiciously labeled as “Reimbursement: Campaign Consulting Services – Thanks, Grandma.”

In an attempt to smooth things over, Omar later told reporters, “Look, this is nothing compared to the billions in tax cuts Republicans give to corporations every year.” However, critics quickly pointed out that corporations, unlike Omar’s grandmother, are typically required to be alive when receiving government funds.

As investigations ramp up, Social Security officials have assured the public that they take fraud very seriously—despite the fact that the agency apparently spent eight years blissfully unaware that one of its beneficiaries had already left this world.

At press time, Omar’s office had quietly updated their statement, clarifying that her grandmother actually did pass away—last week.
