Have you seen Night Court?  No, not the 80’s sitcom mainstay, the new version starring Melissa Rauch as the granddaughter of Harry Stone, the judge from the original version.  It’s not bad.  It’s not the same, but it’s not too bad.

Now NBC is doing it again, with a reboot of the immensely popular sitcom “I Dream of Jeannie.”. Originally starring the inimitable Barbara Eden as a genie in a bottle, found by astronaut Larry Hagman, the new version is nearly ready to go, and stars the stunning actress Logan Browning as the titular character.

Written by Sandra Batt, the daughter of original writer Samuel Batt, the sitcom will involve the adventures of Gynecologist Harmony Lynn, (Laverne Fox, Orange Is The New Black), as she navigates the tricky and hilarious waters surrounding having her wishes granted on a daily basis.

The casting was Batt’s idea, and she is gushingly happy over  Browning’s performance.

“To see a black actress get this part is so magnificent and woke.  She is an amazing actress and a great human being.  She shines on set and has great chemistry with Laverne.  It’s going to be epic.”

Maybe, but statistically, reboots haven’t really worked well outside of the occasional Night Court, or Hawaii Five O.  Don’t forget about the doomed remake of Knight Rider or the thankfully cancelled Fuller House.

But we support the show and everyone involved.  Isn’t that right, master?
