*Update* – Musk has once again taken control of Twitter.

After polling the members of Twitter, Chief Twit Elon Musk has stepped down and handed control of the platform to a board of conservators. Kid Rock, Ted Nugent, Scott Baio, and Tomi Lahren will take over the day-to-day decision-making.

As for Musk, he left his fans with a heartfelt farewell. “I’ll tell you what, managing Twitter has been the greatest honor of my life. I don’t know what I’d do without all of you,” Musk tweeted, “I’m stepping down, but I’m never gonna give you up. Never gonna let you down. Never gonna run around and desert you.”

Leave it to Elon to come up with the perfect sentiment for such a difficult transition. He’s truly an amazing human being.

Musk made sure to leave himself a way out in case the transition doesn’t work out. Apparently, a poll on social media isn’t exactly “binding” in an official sense, so he can just say “Nah I was just kidding.”

But Elon says he’s a man of the people and he’ll respect their wishes. The people said they’d rather see him step down as Chief Twit so that’s exactly what he’s gonna do.
