DEI means “diversity, equity, and inclusion.” In other words: wokeness. DEI hires are people who don’t have to be qualified for a job, they just have to be different from the people who are qualified.
So, if you’re a blind lesbian black woman, you get the job as the radar controller before the person who isn’t any of those things, automatically.
That’s the best way to describe a DEI hire in the echo chamber. It’s basically the new way to say the N-word, or to accuse women of sleeping their way to the top, or to disparage older Americans, or people with disabilities, or anyone the Nazis would deem a “useless eater.”
In reality, DEI is a complex workplace policy that goes far beyond hiring practices, focusing on employee relations, workplace conduct, and educating as many people as possible about the benefits of diversity, equity, and inclusion in an ever-evolving society. That means that in a workplace full of Latinos, the white guy with the red hat is the DEI hire.
Unfortunately for the Magaderpian crown with the room temperature IQs, that’s a lot of words and doesn’t quite jive with the simplicity of using it as a pejorative.
