Brittney Griner’s private welcome home celebration had everything. A massive vegan buffet. Walls covered in rainbow flags. San Antonio’s homeless were gathered in the lot out back to receive the leftovers and get a glimpse of the woman who paid for their tent city for the past four years. Her friends, family, and spouse were all there. To start the festivities, her nephew DeShawn, who used to be Linda, belted out the first notes to the Star Spangled Banner on his kazoo.

Griner knelt. And the crowd went wild.

The mockery went on as the kazoo version of the national anthem, itself a cruel stab at every soldier who ever fought in a foxhole in a foreign country, so basically France, hit every note with chilling accuracy. Nobody sang the song, and only Griner took a knee. This was her moment. Her peers let her have it.

The festivities went on afterward with screenings of Disney movies, a drag show for the kids, and a voter registration rally for illegals. This party truly had it all. There was even an upstairs loft marked with a “Hotbox This Way” sign where anyone age 12 and up could go and get stoned 4 different ways: smoke, vape, edibles, or injection. EMTs were on hand to handle overdose incidents.

This is what we traded for, patriots. God bless America.
