Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer says she has “no choice” but to withdraw her endorsement for US Rep. Rashida Tlaib after the Congresswoman was caught red-handed taking foreign donations from pro-Palestine groups.

“It’s unfortunate that Congresswoman Tlaib couldn’t play by the rules,” said Whitmer’s Press Secretary Joe Barron, “It will most likely cost her the election and earn her a federal indictment.”

The alleged scheme, uncovered by a local Domino’s driver who happened to be delivering to Tlaib’s district office during what he described as “a very suspicious lunch hour,” reportedly involved laundered funds disguised as Postmates gift cards and unmarked envelopes filled with falafel recipes. According to the delivery driver, Mike, who has been driving for the chain since “before the sauce recipe changed,” the evidence was impossible to ignore.

“I saw them through the window,” Mike explained, gesturing with a pizza bag still strapped to his shoulder. “They were counting something that definitely wasn’t pepperonis. Looked like those little flags you put on sandwiches. Red flags, if you know what I mean. My cousin’s girlfriend’s uncle works for the FBI, so I know what I’m talking about.”

The investigation has since expanded to include allegations that Tlaib’s campaign accepted untraceable cryptocurrency payments made exclusively in a little-known digital coin called “IntifadaCoin,” which can only be mined using refurbished Keurig machines. Postal worker Linda, who has delivered mail to the Congresswoman’s office for eleven years and claims she “knows suspicious packages when she sees them,” said she became suspicious after noticing an unusual volume of padded envelopes originating from a P.O. box in Antarctica.

“They always say it’s ‘campaign materials,'” Linda told us while sorting mail on her route, “but I know what campaign materials look like. These were heavy. Like, encyclopedia heavy. Or maybe gold heavy. Or possibly frozen heavy, which would make sense with the Antarctica thing. I’m just saying, you don’t get that many packages from penguins without something fishy going on.”

Tlaib’s office denies any wrongdoing, insisting that the funds in question were legitimate campaign contributions from grassroots supporters and that the “Antarctica packages” were actually bulk orders of thermal socks for staffers. However, Joe Barron, who also serves as the state’s Senior Deputy Director of Sandwich Classification and Part-Time Meteorology, dismissed these claims as “laughable at best, dangerously delusional at worst.”

“We’ve traced the money through seventeen different shell corporations, three Etsy shops, and a failed cryptocurrency themed around artisanal sourdough starters,” Barron stated, adjusting his tie in what sources deSet featured imagescribe as “a very official manner.” “The evidence will speak for itself when we release it next week, or possibly never, depending on how the discovery phase goes.”

Local barista and self-described “political junkie” Tyler, who makes Tlaib’s usual oat milk latte every Tuesday, weighed in while steaming milk to precisely 172 degrees. “She used to tip in regular money,” Tyler noted, his eyes narrowing. “Last week? She tipped in foreign currency. Looked like a 50-something with a bridge on it. Or maybe it was a 20. I don’t really look at money that closely. But still, you have to wonder.”

Tlaib’s campaign has announced plans to file a formal complaint against Whitmer’s office, alleging that the accusations are politically motivated and “physically impossible given the current exchange rate of IntifadaCoin to US dollars.” As of press time, Joe Barron had also been appointed interim Director of Imaginary Finance Crimes and was last seen leaving a Subway restaurant with what witnesses described as “a very guilty-looking meatball sub.”
