The governor of Michigan has completely botched the response to the coronavirus. Her stay at home orders and mandatory masks, business closures, and testing procedures have completely failed and have only enraged her constituents.
Angering those who elected her seems to be her goal. Her latest proposal cements this view. Governor Blah wants the state legislature to create a new law that will restrict the freedoms of every single person living in her state.
She now wants to make masks mandatory in public. This law has been seen elsewhere, but this governor has added a twist. She wants those who violate the mandate to be jailed “until such a time as they are no longer a danger to the public.”
Michigan Republicans see this as nothing more than a way to suppress the vote. They predict that Blah intends to incarcerate conservative voters ahead of the November election, as they are the ones most likely to fight for their freedom by opposing the wearing of the mask.
They released a statement outlining their position:
“This governor is desperate as are all of the Democrats. They see the writing on the wall. They know that their chances in November are incredibly slim.
Blah is proposing this only as a way to take away the vote of the right wing public. Conservative voters are determined and will undoubtedly be at the polls regardless of earthly disaster or fake virus. The only way she sees to stop them is to take away their freedom and this is exactly what this illegal law would be used for.“
This is a new low for the left. Gerrymandering, closing polling stations in areas of opposition, and removing people from the voter rolls on a whim are one thing. Those tactics have been established as being lawful and honest. But this is something quite nefarious.
