This will likely go down in history as one of the most momentous events in social media, with far ranging consequences for competitors such as Facebook and Instagram.

Former President Donald Trump and the new owner of Twitter, Elon Musk, have formally agreed to merge their two social media platforms.

While popular with Mr. Trump’s base, Truth Social had been struggling to attract a larger audience. Twitter, on the other hand, has recently been losing advertising revenue due to “woke” businesses protesting Mr. Musk’s takeover.

It is hoped that the new platform – to be named “Twit Social” – will become a mega attraction for social media users worldwide and attract traffic away from platforms such as Facebook, which has been experiencing its own problems lately, most notably being heavily fined by the EU and the UK for data privacy violations and pissing off former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

“Twits” will become the equivalent of truths and tweets, while retweets will become retwits. A weekly competition will reward the top one thousand users with the most twits and retwits the title of “top weekly active twit”, or TWAT. For $8 per month, all TWATs will be allowed to display a “Certified TWAT” badge next to their names. As co-owners, Mr. Trump and Mr. Musk will automatically receive the badges.

The preliminary merger agreement states that Mr. Musk will become CET (Chief Executive Twit), while Mr. Trump will be CFT (Chief Financial Twit). It is as of yet unknown who will be COT (Chief Operating Twit), although Marjorie Taylor Green and Herschel Walker have been named as possible candidates. as has Devin Nunes’ Cow.

According to Twit Social spokesperson Cletus Derpfinger, it is anticipated that the new platform will run largely on existing Twitter hardware, as Truth Social has been using outdated Microsoft Windows servers and only supported Internet Explorer version 6.

While it remains to be seen how successful the new platform will be, conservative pundits are already praising the merger.
