Florida is the self-described “free state”, liberated from wokeness and idiotic liberal nonsense by it’s great governor Ron DeSantis. Firearms, Covid-19 testing, vaccinations, and “standing your ground” are all realities dependent on your proclivities.
Now the governor has decided that driving is a right that every American who can afford a car should and will have. Busted down from being a “privilege”, Floridians will no longer operate on the tired old process of driver’s tests and renewals, simplifying a simple process for the simple.
DeSantis signed bill 56B22 into law yesterday, requiring the state Constitution to be modified to include the right in it’s body and ordering the DMV statewide to issue ID cards instead of the now unnecessary licenses. DMV spokesperson Sandy Batt commented on the change.
“It’s so refreshing, not having to deal with a lot of these fat old curmudgeons anymore. I mean, it’s not like they had licenses anyway. They just drive golf carts everywhere like Shriners. Sure, when they get in accidents, it’s a huge mess. But that’s their problem now. I mean, it’s all up to them. Freedom!”
Since signing the legislation, insurance rates in Florida have practically tripled overnight, and “joyriding” seems to have become the top new thing among those aged 8 to 30. But DeSantis knows it will eventually even out.
And Freedom and Liberty will remain the top concerns for the great state of Florida.
