Taking a leg during the national anthem is a protest that’s been happening for years now.  When the “Star Spangled Banner” begins to play, it’s become a common theme in an NFL game, to see a large portion of each team on their knees to emphasize their objections to police treatment of black people worldwide.

Recovering injured teammate of the Buffalo Bills Damar Hamlin, still has a long way to go, even though he’s been released from the hospital for home therapy.  But one thing he’s made clear is that during Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins, he intends to take part in kneeling with his compatriots.

I am going to throw bean bags at them and try to win a stuffed anteater.

Sandra Batt is his former doctor and rosebush trimmer, and says that Hamlin will be kneeling out of therapeutic reason, not protest.

“Damar is walking and talking again, but isn’t really up for protesting anything yet.  He’ll be down on one leg simply to take the weight off his upper body for that time.  It’s a handy coincidence.”

Many conservatives like Joe LaForm, a Tupperware storage facility janitor from Oregon, believe that the kneeling is an insult to the military, in some weird, unrelated way.

“Our boys fight for that flag and that song and for the chance to be absent with their buddies for two years while their wives receive welfare and bang the mailman.  When those players kneel during the anthem, it’s like a blizzard on that blumpkin.”
