For a decade or so, people across the country have become increasingly aware of the bad apples in our schools as the tales of their arrests, firings and jail sentences fill our news at a no longer shocking rate. But, parents in one California school district are up in arms after the local Teachers Union came out in support for teachers busted being perverse with students.

Over the last few years in the district, educators have been busted for everything from inappropriate relationships to playing hot potato with a pink personal gratification device in the cafeteria.

This is obviously wrong on every level. Taxpaying residents are demanding accountability and reform or they will defund the district.

Sandy Batt is leading the movement in Sunnydale, California to hold the schools accountable.

“This is a call to action in response to state-sanctioned perversions in our school systems. Our intention from the very beginning is to connect parents from all over the world who have a shared desire for justice to act together in their communities.

The impetus for that commitment was, and still is, the rampant and deliberate violence inflicted on our children by the state.”

Ironically, the Sunnydale Teachers Union views themselves as the victim, in this case, claiming that educators are being ‘vilified’ and refusing to take any responsibility for the training, qualifications, and lack of psychiatric testing for the people they hire to mold the futures of our most precious assets. Union President Chet Chomosky’s statement is below.

“But what we read in the papers all week is that in the community, mothers are worried about their children going to school without being molested or corrupted. What world are we living in? That doesn’t happen,” Chomoshy said.

“Our legislators are failing us. Our press is vilifying us,” he added. “Stop treating us like animals and thugs and start treating us with some respect. That’s what we’re here today to say. We’ve been vilified. It’s disgusting.”

Not all residents are convinced there is an issue in the district. We met up with Union supporter, Nancy Williams.

“I back the thin glue and chalk line. Teachers lives matter. One bad apple doesn’t define the whole bunch. This wasn’t a problem until those people started talking about it. You never heard of this stuff back when I was in school. We can’t live in fear of these things. Just go to school, do what your supposed to do and nothing bad will happen to you. Duh.”

Both sides of the argument have been presented in the interest of fair reporting. We welcome hearing our readers’ perspectives on this issue in the comments. Share with us whose side you’re on.

  1. Hello. I am Joe Biden. I once gave my son Joe Biden Dr. Jr. AAAAAAAAA 500 pages of homework because I was bored. I also gave him some chalk if he wanted to draw.
